Liberty’s Kitchen to be featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show Liberty’s Kitchen’s Executive Director and Youth Development Program graduate to appear on the daytime talk show, Tuesday, February 28.
New Orleans, LA (February 26, 2023) – Liberty’s Kitchen, a New Orleans-based youth workforce development organization, will be featured on the Emmy award-winning talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
This high-energy show spotlights celebrity guests, performances, games, and everyday people working to improve their communities. The episode highlighting Liberty’s Kitchen will air on Tuesday, February 28, at 3 pm CST on New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU.
In this episode, Kelly talks with Liberty’s Kitchen’s Executive Director Bernadette Lucas about the ten-week workforce development training program, which includes a foundations week, culinary training, and externships. Kelly also interviews Liberty’s Kitchen alum Rubi Melendez De La Cruz, a 21-year-old 2021 program graduate. Rubi’s positive attitude and dynamic personality were evident from the moment she completed her program application to her first day of full-time employment. She shares her story detailing how Liberty’s Kitchen helped transform her life from youth homelessness to thriving young adulthood.
Additionally, during the segment, the Conagra Brands Foundation presents a gift of $10,000 in support of Liberty’s Kitchen’s programming.
“I’m excited and honored to share the mission and stories of the life-changing programming of Liberty’s Kitchen with Kelly and her viewers. I am also grateful to the Conagra Brands Foundation for supporting the critical work Liberty’s Kitchen is doing to empower the young people of New Orleans as they work towards a path of self-sufficiency.
On Tuesday, Liberty’s Kitchen’s trainees, alumni, staff, board of directors, volunteers, and others will host a viewing party in the Community Room of the Taylor Center for Youth Leadership located within Liberty’s Kitchen’s facility at 300 N. Broad St. Members of the public and press are invited to attend.
